OPEN CALL for submissions to appear in ‘A Mythic Understanding: inspired by David Jones’ exhibition.

OPEN CALL! A Mythic Understanding: inspired by David Jones.

In November 2018, coinciding with the centenary of the end of World War 1, an exhibition is taking place in the Camberwell Space* entitled A Mythic Understanding: inspired by David Jones.

This will consist of works by selected artists and illustrators responding to the Great War and the way that artist, poet and Camberwell alumni David Jones processed his experiences during the Great War via his expansive knowledge of myth and legend.

In conjunction with this there will be :-

·       Exhibits by current students in the S.U Gallery.
·       In the Library, archive items relating to Jones time as a student at Camberwell..
·       Recreation of the memorial to the students and instructors who fell in WW1 that was near the original         college entrance until the 1990’s.

ALSO and here is where we would love you to contribute – to go alongside that suite of exhibitions and events, staff and alumni can submit works, and the printmaking staff who run the Senior Common Room have agreed to mount an open call exhibition to be hung in the Senior Common Room.

BRIEF-

thematically this exhibition needs work that relates to any or all of these strands:-

·       The First World War, especially the Western Front (Flanders) or life at Camberwell & the surrounding area during or around the           time of WW1.

·       Work influenced by or relating to the methods and styles used by David Jones.

·       David Jones, his life or work.
